Organized Travel

Packing can be a daunting task. Doing it systematically, as written here, can ease the overwhelm. Lists help unload our minds of what we feel we need to remember. Writing it down gets it out of our heads and onto paper where we can cross off tasks or items as we complete them. So, as a starting point, make a thorough list of all items you will need.

Gather all of your items to be packed as well as all of your travel/toiletries bags.

Next up, group together all the like items.

For clothing, fold each roughly the same width then tightly roll each item beginning at the narrowest point rolling toward the widest point. Rolling tightly will avoid wrinkles and maximize space.

Contain like items in bags chosen from your stash. You can even use Ziploc bags or reusable shopping bags if you are low on pretty bags. Here I have my large and bulky toiletries such as aerosol cans, hair brush etc. and my jewelry in the side pockets. My talented aunt made this pretty bag <3 The Just Smile bag has smaller toiletries.

My pretty Mary Kay makeup bag compliments of my sweet friend @carlymorrison.

Smaller toiletries such as toothpaste, Q-tips, loofa etc.

This is two bags in one. The smaller bag inside contains first-aid supplies and the larger has emergency feminine hygiene products.

The yellow bag has our snacks. The purple bag is my dress shoes and the burgundy bag includes my sandals.

Seal any liquids that may leak in Ziploc bags just to be safe!

Now you're ready to start getting it together. Insert rolled clothing on one side of the suitcase filling in any gaps like a puzzle.

Layer bags (and any miscellaneous loose items), as they puzzle-fit, over clothing and strap it in.

Place the bagged items including shoes, sunscreen, toiletries, etc. on the other side. Zip it closed.

And, la-voila! You're all set and ready to go!!!

Hope this little step by step was helpful to you in preparing for a few nights away. Let us know your favourite packing tips!!!

Happy organizing,

xx Mindy
