Conquering a Narrow Pantry

Having a well-organized kitchen has always been a thing for me. I'm not a great cook but I do enjoy making a nice meal for my family and friends. So, of course, me being me, I thrive in an efficient space. I've had many varieties of pantries over the years and my current pantry wins the prize for the most challenging space to organize. It is narrow and deep. Putting items in this pantry without a system in place meant they were lost in the abyss that is the back of this narrow pantry. What would happen is we would ended up trashing expired food found months later, re-buying food we couldn't see that we already had, breaking our backs trying to access items in the back, etc. My solution: Bins. I grouped like items together, of course, then assigned them a bin that would hold the amount of food we would generally have in a given category. You don't have to spend big money on the bins either. The bins used here I already had on hand however they were purchased at the dollar store and on sale at a favourite department store. Now, the trick; getting family members on board to re-home after use. That's a post for another day.
